The official results of the 2020 Scholastic Art and Writing competition were announced in early January and Highland High School students walked away with 59 awards! A total of 74 pieces were displayed, showcasing the creative talent of approximately 30 HHS students who had their work juried into this prestigious competition.
Congratulations to Megan Austin, Lily Coss and Nicole Salerno, who each earned a Gold Key for their eight-piece, senior portfolios. There were only 15 chosen in the region. Also awarded Gold Keys were Julia Camino, Lily Coss, Ellie Dannery, Margaret Houska, Kailey Mullen, Brooke Scranton and Grace Wojtylak. Gold Key winners advance to the National level where they have the chance to receive a scholarship in the amount of $10,000.
Silver Key award winners included Ione Bach, AJ Cooper, Lily Coss (2 awards), Elena Mohos (2 awards), Kailey Mullen, Alaina Pedersen, Nicole Salerno, Brooke Scranton (2 awards) and Lydia Welton.
Those students receiving Honorable Mention awards included Megan Austin (2 awards), Ione Bach, Julia Camino (2 awards), Dylan Chorba, AJ Cooper (2 awards), Adam Coss, Lily Coss, Emma Cox, Ellie Dannery (3 awards), Andrea Filote, Margaret Houska (2 awards), Emily Kellog, Zach LaMonica, Lydia Lanier, Kennedy Liggett, Lily Lisco, Elena Mohos (2 awards), Alison Pasco, Alaina Pedersen (2 awards), Megan Porter, Audrey Prietz, Nicole Salerno, Brooke Scranton, Hannah Stasiowski, Kennedy Steinbacher, Ava Vazquez (3 awards) and Grace Wotjylak.
