Congratulations to the following Highland High School seniors selected as the September and October Students of the Month by the Medina County Kiwanis.
September: Ananya Ramasamy & Evan Buck
Ananya currently serves as the President of Student Council and Secretary of the HHS National Honor Society. She is a member of the Academic Challenge Team, Latin Club, Varsity Swim Team, Track Team and Sinfonia Orchestra. A Scholar Athlete, Ananya also earned a Summa Cum Laude certificate on The National Latin Exam. In her time away from the classroom, she has volunteered for the Akron Marathon, University Hospitals and the Medina County Public Library. She is the daughter of Sridhar and Priya Ramasamy of Montville Township and plans to study pre-medicine following her graduation from Highland.
Evan, a National Merit Commended Scholar, is an exemplary student who devoted his time to clubs such as Peer Leading, Tri-M, Student Council, DARE, and National Honor Society. He is a principal violinist in the Sinfonia Orchestra and serves as the president of the Highland Speech and Debate Team, where he has qualified at both state and national levels in the category of US Extemporaneous Speaking. Evan, who is also an Eagle Scout, is the son of Dan and Sherri Buck of Sharon Township. He plans to study pre-medicine following his graduation.
October: Anna Lanier & Garrett Wright
Anna, who was recently crowned Homecoming Queen, is Treasurer for her senior class and serves as President of the HHS National Honor Society. A member of Student Council, the Varsity Volleyball Team and the Conspiracy Theory Club, Anna has been involved in Yearbook,Academic Challenge Team and Peer Leading. Over the years, she has volunteered at Safety Town, vacation Bible school, Volleyball Youth Camp and the E4 Youth Summit. She also works as a photographer, specializing in sports photography and senior portraits. Anna is the daughter of Matt and Stephanie Lanier of Sharon Township. She plans to attend college on a pre-medicine track.
Garrett is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, DARE, French Club, Students for Impact, 4H and Junior Leadership. A Scholar Athlete, he is a member of the Varsity Cross Country and Track Teams, Choir, Highland Heartbreakers and Speech and Debate Team. Garrett participated in the Buckeye Boys State, earning a spot as a finalist in the National Youth Senate. He is a dedicated student involved in many rigorous academic classes. He is the son of Gary and Theresa Wright of Granger Township. He plans to attend a service academy and obtain a degree in political science.
