New Student Registration & Information

Welcome to the Highland Local Schools!
Located in Medina County, Ohio, Highland Local School District offers students an achievement-oriented educational program and serves students from Hinckley, Granger, Sharon, Montville, Copley, Medina, Brunswick Hills, and Wadsworth. We offer a comprehensive curriculum and our highly qualified teaching staff works to develop the abilities of each child. The District is constantly growing and striving to remain future-focused so that our students have the academic tools they need to succeed in the 21st Century and beyond.

According to the 2022 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings, Highland High School is now ranked #15 out of 120 high schools in the Cleveland Metro area, #41 among Ohio’s 750 high schools and #1,155 out of 17,843 high schools nationally.

"We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the best high schools in Ohio and at the national level. Our students and staff have persevered through a multitude of challenging circumstances over the past couple of years, and yet, they have continued to work hard, maintain focus and succeed at the highest levels,” stated Highland Schools Superintendent Catherine Aukerman. “Each year, this ranking validates our student performance in the areas of college readiness, proficiency in reading, math and science as well as our graduation rate. We are excited to celebrate this success.”

U.S. News evaluated over 24,000 public high schools nationwide, with nearly 18,000 schools ranked. The highest-ranked public schools are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, science and reading state assessments, passed a diverse array of college-level exams and graduated in high proportions. To learn more, visit: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/ohio/districts/highland-local/highland-high-school-15628.

Enrolling Your Child in the HLSD
Please note: Only the residential or legal custodial parent/guardian may enroll the child in school. All steps must be completed before a student may attend the Highland Local Schools. At this time, the district does not accept Open Enrollment.

To begin the enrollment process, please see "Enrollment Steps" listed on the right-hand side of this page. Here, you will find a Records Release Request Form, an Enrollment Process Checklist, Medical Action Plans (if applicable), and a link to FinalForms. Please follow this link to create or access your FinalForms account.

FinalForms is an online program that allows you and your student(s) to complete and file MOST forms electronically. All parents of Highland students are required to use this program. The custodial parent/guardian must have a valid email address. The #1 contact listed in FinalForms will be the phone number used for the district's emergency notification system. It is then up to the parent to keep their child's information current, as the information will carry over each school year.
