Dear Highland Families –
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
The Highland Local School District proudly serves roughly 3,500 students across 78 square miles, encompassing Granger, Hinckley, Sharon, and Montville Townships. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from our Highland community – our students, families, staff, alumni, and local businesses and organizations.
The Highland Local School District is steeped in a tradition of excellence and continues to excel on the national, state, and local levels in the areas of academics, athletics, and the arts. It is truly an honor to consistently be recognized as one of the best school districts in the State of Ohio. We are proud to once again receive the highest 5-star ranking from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and earn high national and metro-area rankings among the Best High Schools awarded by U.S. News. Our Little Hornets Preschool Program continues to receive a 5-Star Step Up to Quality Award from the state – the highest rating attainable.
Highland provides top-notch curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students. Our academic programming offers a wide range of courses, including Advanced Placement, College Credit Plus, Honors, World Languages, Computer Sciences, Career Readiness, and Gifted and Remedial courses. We offer robust music, theater, and visual arts opportunities and state-of-the-art equipment for those interested in Esports, STEM activities, and Robotics. Our student-athletes participate and excel in over 20 Varsity and Junior Varsity sports. The Highland Local School District truly defines excellence in action.
To our students, families, and staff members – I wish you all a very safe, healthy, and happy school year.
Go Hornets!
Sincerely,
Catherine Aukerman
