Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year

Dear Highland Families:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

The Highland Local School District is committed to educational excellence and remains one of the best school districts in the State of Ohio, consistently receiving the highest 5-Star rankings from the Ohio Department of Education. We are proud to serve students and families who have lived here for generations, as well as families who are new to Granger, Hinckley, Sharon, and Montville Townships. We are proud to be a school district destination of choice.

Highland provides unmatched curricular and extra-curricular opportunities and support for all students - academically, athletically, and in the fine and performing arts. We work to ensure that our students not only succeed, but excel while at Highland and beyond.

Our academic programming offers a wide range of offerings from Advanced Placement, College Credit Plus, Honors, World Languages, Computer Sciences, Career Readiness, Gifted and Remedial courses to our strong Early Childhood Education programs including our 5-Star rated Little Hornets Preschool and All-Day, Every-Day Kindergarten Program. Highland offers robust music, theater, and visual arts opportunities and state-of-the-art equipment for those interested in Esports, STEM activities, and Robotics. Student-athletes participate in over 20 Varsity and Junior Varsity sports, and Highland was named the Suburban League’s All-Sports Champion in the American Conference for the 2022-2023 school year. There is truly something for everyone here in the Highland Local School District.

Student and staff safety remains the top priority and sworn law enforcement officers are employed full-time at every school building. Comprehensive emergency plans are in place that have been developed with the direct involvement of local law enforcement agencies. Counseling services, licensed social workers, and mental health supports are available to any student who may need them.

I wish all of you a safe, healthy, and happy 2023-2024 school year!
