Changes to Preschool Program for 2021-22

Due to COVID-19 safety protocols and physical distancing guidelines, the Highland Local Schools will be unable to serve typical peers in its Little Hornets Preschool Program for the upcoming 2021-22 academic year.

Unfortunately, physical distancing guidelines will allow for no more than nine students in a preschool classroom. "We understand that this information is disappointing for some families, but we wanted to offer advance notice so that parents can make other arrangements for their children," stated Deb Yorko, Director of Pupil Services. "We have a top-rated preschool program and we know that every day of learning has a direct impact on young students. We look forward to the day when we are able to welcome back all students to our preschool program."

Currently, public schools are not required to provide preschool for typical students. However, they are required to provide preschool for students with special needs. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Highland Schools Department of Special Education at 330-239-1901, ext. 1256.
