Dear Highland Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for providing your feedback to the Highland School District’s Reopening Plan (DRAFT) document. Below you will find the survey results regarding the learning and transportation options. The Board of Education is currently in the process of reviewing all of the comments submitted by parents and staff members. Once that review is complete and full consideration given to all of the suggestions and feedback, a final plan will be released.
The overwhelming majority of parents and staff asked that the school calendar be adjusted to reflect a start date after Labor Day. Therefore, a new school calendar will be released with the final plan. We wanted to notify all families and staff that the preliminary start date of August 24 that was suggested in the draft plan, will be changed. Currently, we are looking at a revised start date of either September 8 or September 14. All of that information, once finalized, will be communicated as well.
Additionally, we received requests for more information regarding the Virtual Learning Academy option and the content provider (Edgenuity). We are working on a FAQ and an information sheet that will be released prior to seeking a one-semester commitment from parents regarding (Option 2 – 100% Virtual Learning Academy).
The results of the Transportation Survey indicate that over 60% (of responding parents) will require bus service for their child(ren).
