Nick Ranallo will join the Highland Local School District as its new Athletic Director/Assistant Principal, effective August 1, 2019. He replaces Dr. John Deuber who recently announced his retirement after 16 years of service in the Highland Schools and 34 years in education. The Board of Education welcomed Mr. Ranallo during their June 24 regular meeting.
Mr. Ranallo has nearly 15 years’ experience in education and athletics, including an extensive background in coaching. Prior to accepting the position at Highland, he served as the athletic director/assistant principal at Chippewa High School in Doylestown and previously taught at Wadsworth High School and Middle School, Strongsville High School and Twinsburg High School. He earned both his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and his Masters in School Leadership from Baldwin-Wallace University.
“I am excited about my transition to the Highland Local Schools and I look forward to building upon the rich tradition and legacy of Highland athletics,” Mr. Ranallo stated. As an athletic director, Mr. Ranallo said that he strives to build positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, administration, staff, parents and community members.
Superintendent Catherine Aukerman said she and the Highland Administration are confident that Mr. Ranallo’s experience both in the classroom and as a coach will be a great benefit to the District. “He was chosen from a large pool of highly qualified candidates. His extensive coaching and teaching experience and his overall philosophy with student athletes, as well as his positive demeanor and management style, will make for a great combination at Highland.”
