Teaming |
|
What is “teaming?” Many middle schools have adopted teaming as one way to get closer to the students and make for a smooth transition from the elementary years to higher level education. In our sixth grade, we have divided the faculty into two academic teams. Sharing the same students between four teachers allows us to collaborate on the best needs of individual students as well as in forming lesson plans and curriculum. One of the most common questions we get is about how students are chosen for the two academic teams. Students are randomly selected for placement on one of our two teams: the Huskies, or the Labradors (affectionately known as the “Labs”). Ability, talent, or test scores do not play a part on who gets on what team...whatsoever! Those who place the students on the team see that identified gifted as well as students needing assistance are on both teams. Students will learn what team they are on the first day of school. |
