Biography:
Welcome to Granger
Elementary School!
This will be
the 5th year Granger
Elementary School has
been in existence. I am looking forward to another outstanding year. Granger Elementary School has staff,
families, community members and students who function as a family. We work
hard to bring out the best in each other. We have really high expectations
of excellent academic achievement, social interaction and positive growth
experiences.
This is my 33rd year in education. I earned
a Bachelors Degree from Kent
State University
in the areas of Elementary and Special Education. I earned my Masters
Degree also from Kent
State University
in Educational Administration. I have also completed course work at Ashland College,
Cleveland State
University and completed a two
year study of the School Development Plan under the direction of Dr. James
Comer, Yale University. I lived and worked in Newcomerstown, Ohio
for 29 years. I taught 2nd grade for 9 years, 5th grade for 8 years, and
was the principal of a K-1 school, Assistant Principal of the Middle School
and Coordinator of all Federal Programs for 12 years all in the Newcomerstown Exempted Village
School District.
My husband, Allen and I live in Hinckley, near the park, which is such a blessing
because one of my favorite activities is to walk the park. Allen is a
computer programmer/systems analyst. He served on our Strategic Planning
Team and can always be counted on to help our Granger family when needed.
We are the parents of two children. Shannon is a teacher of Hearing
Impaired students in the New
Philadelphia School District.
Her husband, John, teaches Mild to Moderate Handicapped students in the Garaway district. Our son, Brian, is a teacher of
Multi-handicapped students in Newcomerstown
High School and
Brian’s wife, Abby, is a Nurse in a Child Psychiatric Clinic. Shannon
and John are the parents of Caleb Patrick who will be 4 years old on July 9th. They are also expecting a daughter in August. Brian and Abby are the parents of a baby
girl, Magelynn Kate “Maggie” who was
born May 2, 2008. Being a grandma is
the absolute best!!
I am thrilled to work at Granger
Elementary School.
The support of families and dedication of the staff is incredible. When
adults come together like this, only good things happen for children.
