Students identified by Highland Local School to receive direct services are supported in a number of ways. ¨ Highland Middle School has a full time Gifted and Talented Intervention Specialist that works with all grade levels to assist in differentiated instruction. ¨ Students are clustered in language arts to allow Gifted and Talented Intervention Specialist time to work with students in an inclusion or pull-out setting. ¨ Affective need groups designed to meet the social and emotional needs of gifted students. |

Students that have a Superior Cognitive Ability Score of 130 or higher on a state approved group of individual ability test. |

Criteria for Direct Services |
|
All students with any identified areas of giftedness should be challenged at home and school to develop their talents. Teachers are informed and encouraged to differentiate the curriculum for gifted students. |
