BACK TO SCHOOL!

Dear Boys and Girls,

Welcome to the 2010-11 school year. Your teachers and I are looking forward to a super school year together!  This year our school reading theme is ‘Reality Rocks…..Reading Keeps it Real!’  Information and non-fiction books will be highlighted throughout the year.  It will be great to share what we learn about people, places, things and ideas that are factual! On September 27 we will have a visit by Dr. Becker, the author of the “Returning Wildlife” series and Seedling series.  He has written a number of interesting informational books and will be highlighting some of them with us. Also, we are planning a special ‘Rock n Roll’ kick off assembly on October 1.

Every student is asked to become part of our Reading Club!  All you have to do is get into the habit of reading each night and record your minutes on a monthly calendar. Students who complete the required reading will earn a series of rock related incentives. This year, we also are planning an end of the year rock n roll party for those students who participate every month.

To help Sharon Elementary be the best school on the planet requires everyone to respect each other.  We need to all create a beautiful school by cleaning up after ourselves, completing our work so that we are proud of our efforts, and treating each and every person the way we want to be treated.  Kindness and polite behavior in our words and actions will make for a wonderful year!

Below is an acrostic poem to remind you about making this school year one that will “rock”!
