WHAT IS THIS?

This icon represents Highland’s RSS feed. RSS is a way that the Highland Schools and countless other web hosts provide written news, videos and audio clips directly to users. It’s more convenient than subscribing to an email distribution list. It’s easier than logging onto the internet and checking your favorite websites.

To view an RSS feed you will need a RSS Reader. There are free readers available. You can use Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2.0, or any feed reader program in order to subscribe to Highland’s feed, or anyone else’s for that matter. It is similar to downloading a player in order to view video clips or listen to music on the web. Information on how to use Firefox 2.0, Internet Explorer 7 and the free program FeedReader can all be found with the link below. Once you have a feed reader installed, you can subscribe to Highland’s RSS feed and any others that might interest you.

After subscribing to a site’s RSS news feed, you will automatically receive new content. You will no longer have to visit your favorite websites and check them each day. The latest news and clips from each site you subscribe to will just appear on your reader. If you choose to receive Highland’s RSS feed, you will be the first to receive important district news.
