Dear Granger Families:
As you are aware, the failure of the recent levy has prompted the Board of Education to make cuts in staffing and programs in order to address the anticipated $5.1 million deficit in 2012. This week, letters were sent out from our Superintendent, Mrs. Catherine Aukerman, outlining the mid-year changes and also some of the considerations for reductions for next year, regardless if the levy passes in May.
I would like to clarify specific changes that you will be seeing here at Granger beginning the second semester:
-
Mr. John Mancuso will be leaving and Mrs. Moriah Ice will be re-assigned to our school, as well as the other two elementary schools until her maternity leave. This will result in a reduction of services available.
-
Mrs. Bev Major will no longer be our office aide and Miss Sheilah Wilson will no longer be our playground aide. These positions were eliminated. Mrs. Donna Wadle will no longer help in the classroom but will assist in the office and playground.
-
The Middle School Gifted Program and Mrs. Kim Clendaniel’s position as gifted coordinator have also been eliminated, which ultimately impacts the fifth grade advanced math students. This program will continue until the end of this school year but there will be a new teacher.
We truly appreciate the services of the staff that are leaving and wish them the best in their future endeavors. They will be missed.
Additionally, be on the look out for a letter that will be mailed if your child’s bus route has been adjusted. Consolidated bus routes will begin second semester, January 19th.
I ask that you please be patient and support us as we work through these changes. As in the past, we will continue to strive to provide for the educational needs of your children.
Sincerely,
Linda L. Collins, Principal
