The Hispanic Scholarship Fund - See Website Students must be of Hispanic heritage, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale and apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For more details about HSF scholarship programs and to apply online, please visit the HSF web site at http://www.hsf.net. Stark State College of Technology - See Website Restricted to high school seniors planning to enroll as full-time students at Stark State College and who have a minimum grade point average of 3.00. GPA, school and community activities, academic background, ACT scores will be used to determine selection of recipients. Cleveland Scholarship Programs - See Website Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and ACT test score of 18 or above and/or SAT test score of 860 or above. A well-written, original, 500-word essay on "When a Work Related Injury Hits Home" is required. Financial need is not a consideration. AXA Achievement Community Scholarship - December 1, 2011 To be eligible you must be ambitious and motivated as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community, or work activities, and be recommended by an unrelated adult who can attest to your achievement. To learn more about AXA Achievement, visit www.axa-achievement.com. The Graphic Arts Council of Cleveland - December 9, 2011 Scholarship values vary in amount, duration, and nature. Students must meet the following requirements: be a high school senior; be in the upper one-third of their graduating class; must be recommended by their respective principal and their instructor or guidance counselors as promising candidates; and should desire to be employed in the Graphic Communications industry in the Northeast Ohio area after graduation from college. ACT scores, transcript, recommendation letter, and letter from student explaining why they should receive the scholarship are required. Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Scholarships - December 15, 2011 Multiple scholarships available beginning at $400 through full tuition. Must be a high school senior; must be a United States citizen; must intend to earn a degree in engineering or a related science, meet minimum requirements such as GPA, SAT/ACT scores as outlined in the individual requirements of each scholarship. NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award - December 15, 2011 The NFIB Young Entrepreneur program was established to raise awareness among the nation's youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America. Must be enrolling in a two or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute. The applicant should demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, such as starting a business, participation in organizations such as DECA, Future Business Leaders of American, Junior Achievement and the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, etc. An official, established business is a requirement. Applications are available online at www.NFIB.com/YEA. Burger King Scholars Program - January 10, 2012 The BURGER KING® Scholars Program, in memory of BURGER KING® co-founder James W. McLamore, has awarded more than $15.4 million to high school seniors and employees across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico since the program's inception in 2000. Medina County Hibernian Scholarship Award - January 15, 2012 The Ancient Order of Hibernians and Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians are world-wide charitable organizations which strive to promote Irish heritage. This is an essay competition open to all Medina County high school seniors. The essay theme is "Who is your Irish Hero, past or present, and why?" and should be about 500 words in length. Application forms can be downloaded here or through the guidance office. Bowling Green State University - January 18, 2012 Forty scholarships are available at BGSU for incoming freshmen to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education. High school seniors considering teaching either secondary science or math, or middle childhood science and math may be eligible for these scholarships. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and a minimum 20 ACT/920 SAT. Phi Delta Kappa North Coast Ohio Chapter - February 1, 2012 The North Coast Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, located at Baldwin-Wallace College, invites students interested in the field of education to apply for prospective educator scholarships. Two $500 scholarships will be offered. Two letters of reference, a 500-word essay, and a high school transcript are required. Bowling Green State University The Alumni Freshman Scholarship - February 6, 2012 Presented annually to an incoming freshman student who has been admitted to BGSU with a declared major in biology. KFC Colonel's Scholars Program December 1, 2011 to - February 8, 2012 An award of up to $5,000 per year for tuition, fees, books, and room and board will be given to one student. The KFC Colonel's Scholars Program was created in 2006 and is dedicated to assisting students with financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at a public institution within their legal state of residence. To qualify, the student must be: Graduating from high school this year; maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher; enroll in a public, in-state college or university; pursue a bachelor's degree; be a US citizen or permanent resident. The online application will be available from December 1, 2011 through February 8, 2011 at www.kfcscholars.org. National Commission for Cooperative Education Scholarship Program - February 15, 2012 As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship in the United States, the National Commission on behalf of ten (10) NCCE Partner Colleges and Universities, will award 170 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each. Must have a 3.5 GPA. Essay is required. Students can find additional information on-line at www.co-op.edu. Cargill Community Scholarship February 15, 2012 Cargill will award scholarships to high-school seniors living near Cargill communities nationwide and provide $200 to each student's school library. Based on academic achievement and leadership in extracurricular and civic activities. Scholarship application and guidelines are online at www.cargill.com, keyword scholarship. Applications require the signature of a Cargill employee. National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences - February 15, 2012 Two $2000 scholarships will be awarded to two graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in television or a television related field. An online application must be filled out. The application is available at www.nataslgl.org. Once on the Website, mouse over the "Students" tab at the top right of the page, and then select "Scholarships" from the drop down menu. Cavaliers/FirstMerit Scholarship Program - February 17, 2012 Ten $2,000 scholarships will be awarded. Participation in basketball is not considered a factor when judging. Requirements are: 500-word essay; transcript; ACT or SAT scores; and one letter of recommendation from a high school faculty member. The criteria for screening applications are: academic achievement; extracurricular activity (work experience, community involvement, etc); essay; and interview. The Ohio State University Alumni Scholars Program - February 17, 2012 At least one Alumni Scholarship award will be offered by your local alumni club. The candidates must demonstrate involvement in school and community activities, and show a sound interest and positive attitude toward college work. An Ohio State University Undergraduate Admission Application must be completed. Big 33 Academic Scholarship - February 17, 2012 Must be a high school senior; must be enrolled in a public or private school in Ohio or Pennsylvania; must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 for the previous two academic years (grades 10 and 11); must exhibit excellence in a well-rounded educational and extracurricular program; must plan to continue his/her education beyond high school at an accredited institution of higher education or technical school; on-line application is available at www.big33.org and must be submitted between October 17, 2011 through February 12, 2012. Ohio University Women's Club of Greater Cleveland - February 18, 2012 A scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior woman who will be attending Ohio University in the fall of 2012. Applicant must have an unweighted 3.5 accumulated GPA on a scale of 4.0 for six semesters; obtain at least a 25 ACT score and/or an 1140 SAT score; graduate from a Greater Cleveland area high school. Cleveland Cavaliers & Majestic Steel Scholarship Program - March 5, 2012 In partnership with Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College, and Lorain Community College, four $2000 scholarships for students pursuing a manufacturing career at one of the above mentioned institutions for the 2012-2013 school year will be awarded. Scholarships will be awarded at the April 8, 2011 Cavaliers game at Quicken Loans Arena. Medina County Show Biz Co. - March 15, 2012 Two $500 scholarships to two seniors from Medina County Schools. The following criteria must be met: personal contribution (backstage crew, construction, painting, ushering, publicity, etc.) to the Medina County Show Biz Company, financial need, majoring in any aspect of performing arts, personal contribution to the performing arts while at high school or while being home schooled. Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools - April 2, 2012 These scholarships range from $2,000 to $16,038 and are for graduating seniors planning to attend one of the member Career Colleges or Schools. A list of participating schools can be found by visiting www.ohiocareercolleges.org. Medina County Art League Scholarship - May 7, 2012 Offering scholarships to graduating students who are continuing their art education. Requires a portfolio of five to eight pieces of original matted and backed artwork. The application can be accessed at www.medinaartleague.com and then clicking on the scholarship button. B. Davis Scholarship - May 28, 2012 The creators of the "Student Award Search Aid" website are offering a scholarship for 2012. Visit http://www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm to read about the scholarship. The Margaret Ford Smucker and Lloyd K. Smucker Scholarship - March 28, 2012 Must be a high school senior and have a 3.0 GPA at the end of the seventh semester. The applicant's family must demonstrate economic need. Three letters of recommendation required. The application can be accessed at www.medina-esc.org, and then clicking on the scholarship button. Stephen F. Joseph Memorial 4-H Scholarship - March 30, 2012 $1000 annually, or more, for as long as funds are available will be awarded to the student who best meets the following criteria: Academic achievement, citizenship and community service, leadership, and 4-H involvement. Applicant must have been a Medina County 4-H member for at least two (2) years. Three letters of recommendation must be submitted. The application can be accessed at www.medina-esc.org, and then clicking on the scholarship button. Medina County Board of DD Must be accepted into an accredited training program in a field providing services to individuals with DD (i.e. special education, physical therapy, social work, behavioral science, etc.).
