Highland High School Program of Studies
Academically, Highland students consistently score at the top of the county and among the top of the state on standardized and proficiency tests.
- Highland offers individualized programs and services to students with disabilities ranging from resource rooms for students with significant disabilities to tutoring for those with mild to moderate needs.
- Average class size is 25 students.
- Four grading periods per year; nine weeks per grading period.
Class Ranking: All subjects in Grades 9 through 12 are included. A.P. English 11, 12, A. P. Calculus, and A. P. American History are 5-point A courses. Honors English 11 and 12; Honors Algebra 2, Pre-calculus Mathematics; Honors Chemistry, and Physics; Honors Economics; Spanish, German, Latin, and French III and IV are 5-point A courses.
Cumulative Grade Point Average: Based on yearly averages with a 4-point scale with the above 5-point A courses.
Graduation Requirements: 21 credits including 4 English, 3 math, 3 social science, 3 science, 1 foreign language (or reading), 1 fine arts, and 1 health/phys. ed. (vocational graduates must have 4 English, 3 math, 3 social science, 3 science, and health/phys. ed.)
Time Schedule: Classes are 55 minutes long, five days per week.
