      Kindergarten Registration is March 15
Highland Kindergarten Registration for the 2012-13 school year will be held on Thursday, March 15 at Granger, Hinckley and Sharon elementary schools. In order to register, a child must be five years old by September 30, 2012, and the following items are needed at the time of registration: personal identification with a picture I.D. of the adult registering the child; proof of residency; the child’s original birth certificate or passport; child’s complete immunization records; and certified custody papers (if applicable).

It is important for the District to have an accurate count of incoming kindergarten students in order to prepare for next school year, so please be sure to register on this day and also let neighbors know this information if they will have young children just starting school.
Please note the following times to register:
      Last names beginning with:

      • A-L: 8-10 a.m.
      • M-R: 10 a.m. to 12 noon
      • S-Z: 1-3 p.m

Registration forms are available online and should expedite the process if you bring them filled out. Forms will also be available at registration. It is not necessary for the children to accompany the parents at registration. The principals, secretaries and nurses will be on hand to verify the necessary paperwork and address any concerns parents have.

      Shred Day is April 28
Start your Spring cleaning early and collect all of your old documents for theHINCKLEY SHRED DAY on SATURDAY, APRIL 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hinckley Elementary Parking Lot. This event will conclude the school’s Recycling Contest and Earth Day activities.
      • The goal is to give residents and small businesses the opportunity to shred and recycle confidential documents they have accumulated in their homes and offices.
      • Residents can watch their important papers be destroyed and the secure bin insures no one has access to personal information.
      • All shredding is HIPAA compliant and is mixed in with other shred paper, bailed and sent off to a paper mill to be made into pulp and recycled into paper.
Hinckley Elementary is working to raise funds for Netbook computers. Donations of $5 or more will be accepted per family. If you are a business owner or know of a business owner who is interested in sponsoring this event and having their paper shred for free, email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
