Washington D.C. Trip
The plans are in place for another memorable 8th grade class trip to Washington D.C. The itinerary is now linked on the left. This is an exciting and educational trip for our students and the culmination of a year of American History study. This year's trip is May 30, May 31 and June 1st.
The cost per student is $450. This covers all expenses including 2 night's hotel accommodations (quad room), transportation, security, admissions and meals. Student and parent meetings will be held (dates TBD) to review all the details. Please note that all student fees must be paid in full prior to paying for the Washington trip.
Each 8th grade student received a payment letter on 12/2. Payments can be made any time prior to due dates noted in that letter. Make checks payable to Highland Middle School. Our PTO provides funds if financial assistance is necessary. Those requests can be made to Dr. Deuber before January 20st. Requests and assistance are kept confidential. ---------------------
Parents Interested in Chaperoning Trip cost for Parent Chaperone is $495.00 for double occupancy room. Single available for $645.
Chaperone Requests are accepted beginning 12/5 on a first full-paid basis. Final Chaperone list is determined by space limitations. Please note that Parents Only are permitted to chaperone, and a background check of all chaperones is required. Information specific to that will follow. Parents typically chaperone groups of 4 or 8 students.
A D.C. Trip FAQ page will be added to the web page prior to the Holiday break. ---------------------
Social internet networking sites are an effective method to communicate and exchange information. Highland Schools employs Twitter and Facebook accounts as another media outlet for our community. However, there have been times that school personnel and/or law enforcement agencies are made aware of derogatory, vulgar and profane comments posted on student Facebook pages, or similar social networking sites. If your student has an account, insist on monitoring the postings and pages closely. As parent, you should have all login and password information for your children's accounts. -------------------
