| Students at Granger Elementary collected 5286 canned and boxed goods for the Sharing Center in Sharon Township. They also donated hundreds of stuffed animals to patients at Akron's Children's Hospital as part of a program called Giving in Granger. The Granger staff and students celebrated the Holidays during a special assembly. Students sang Christmas carols and their teachers got in the act by doing the "Reindeer Hokey Pokey." |

Principal for a Day
 |
Third grade student Emily Szabados and Granger Elementary Principal Linda Collins traded places for the day on Monday, December 4th. Emily won the chance to be "Principal for a Day" at a raffle during the Granger Elementary Fall Festival this November. Mrs. Collins left Emily a list of instructions which included coordinating morning announcements and the attendance count. Emily also had to walk around the building and observe students and teachers in different classrooms. In addition, Emily called several meetings with colleagues (her third grade buddies) to discuss the state of Granger Elementary School and changes that could be made next school year. Granger's full-time principal, Mrs. Collins, spent the day in Ms. Hyland's third grade classroom completing Emily's assignments!

Mosaic Benches Installed in Granger Lobby!
 |
This fall, guest artist George Woideck came back to Granger Elementary to help art teacher Mrs. Zacharias and parent volunteers install mosaic benches in the school's lobby area. During the spring of 2006, Woideck worked with 5th grade students to create four mosaic-tiled benches with space themes. The project was funded by the Highland Foundation for Educational Excellence.
