In order to be selected, honorees must maintain a high GPA while being involved in the school and the community. A total of only 30 girls were chosen throughout Medina County. The ball is being held in partnership with Feeding Medina County. Those selected have been asked to collect 16 ounce plastic peanut butter jars, which will be included in weekender bags to underprivileged children throughout the schools in the county. In the weekender bags, every child will receive a jar of peanut butter, along with other staple foods.

In an effort to collect as many 16 ounce plastic jars as possible, the Highland girls sought permission to make this a district-wide event, called "Spread the Love." The collection will begin on Monday, January 29 and continue through the end of February. As a reward for the school that collects the largest number of items, the principal has agreed to dress up in a peanut butter jar costume for the day! For those making a generous donation, please note that the collection specifies 16 ounce plastic jars of peanut butter only. Thank you!
