Highland Receives State 'Momentum Award'

Ohio’s State Board of Education has granted the Highland Local School District with the 2016-17 Momentum Award. Now in its third year, the Momentum Award recognizes districts that have received A’s on each Value-Added measure included on Ohio’s school and district report cards.

“This award reinforces that both achievement and academic growth at Highland is very high,” stated Superintendent Catherine Aukerman. “Our district report card for the 2016-17 school year shows our students enjoyed greater than expected growth in reading and mathematics. This accomplishment makes us part of an elite group of districts that are ensuring the academic growth of students from every background and ability level.”

In addition to the overall district award, both Granger Elementary School and Highland Middle School were recognized with individual school Momentum Awards.

Members of the State Board of Education recognize that Highland recruits dedicated school leaders and staff and equips them with the tools they need to ensure academic growth for every child.
